Alkaline Diet Meal Plan: 7 Days with Meat, Fish and Cheese
Basentracker Team
This meal plan is not alkaline fasting. It is everyday eating: meat or fish on four days, eggs, small amounts of cheese, bread, coffee. Each day still lands between about −20 and −50, because the sides are right: potatoes instead of rice, double vegetables, fruit as a snack. All values are calculated from the Basentracker database. Cook the plan for one week and you will have the side-dish rule down. After that, you won’t need a plan.
The rules behind the plan
A meal plan only works if it fits your everyday life, not the other way around. That’s why four rules apply here, and they keep working even without a plan:
- Every main meal: one protein component, two alkaline ones. Meat, fish, egg, cheese or legumes in a normal portion, plus potatoes or sweet potatoes and a serving of vegetables or salad.
- Potatoes are the default side. Rice and pasta show up twice a week, not every day.
- Fruit is the snack. Two pieces a day, usually a banana and an apple, or whatever is in season.
- Cheese as a seasoning. Never more than 30 g per meal, and never stacked on bread.
What the plan doesn’t ask of you: giving up coffee, bread, sugar, milk or wine. Bread is slightly acid-forming, and the rest is neutral to slightly alkaline. None of it makes a real difference.
ℹ️ Target
A daily balance between −20 and +5 counts as balanced. A typical Western diet sits at +40 to +60. The plan averages about −30, which leaves room for a slice of cake or a glass of wine.

The exact totals are shown with each meal. Notice that the two days with pizza, roast and cake still end up below zero. That’s because the potatoes, salad, red cabbage and fruit around them are right. And that’s the point: the main dish doesn’t decide your balance. Everything around it does.

FAQ
Can I swap meals? Yes, within the rules: protein plus potatoes plus vegetables. If you’d rather have chicken than salmon, the balance shifts by a few points, but the sign stays the same.
What if I can’t or don’t want to cook? The rule carries over to cafeterias, delivery and ready meals: pick the potato side, add a salad, halve the cheese and sauce, and have fruit instead of dessert.
Is there enough protein? The plan provides about 55 to 75 g of protein a day from fish, meat, eggs, legumes, dairy and nuts. That’s enough for most adults. If you do strength training, add more protein and add more potatoes and vegetables along with it.
What about kids? The plan is normal, vegetable-rich family food. Kids get the same dishes in their own portion sizes, without counting anything.

Bottom line
Eating alkaline doesn’t mean eating different food. It means combining it differently. This plan includes salmon, chicken, roast beef, pizza, wine and cake, and every day stays below zero. The difference is in the potatoes, vegetables and fruit that are part of every meal. Stick with it for one week, and after that it becomes automatic.
