PRAL Calculator

Put your meal together: search for a food, enter the amount in grams, done. The calculator adds up the PRAL values and tells you whether the meal as a whole is alkaline, neutral or acid-forming. Everything runs in your browser, nothing is stored.

How the calculation works

Every food has a PRAL per 100 g. The calculator multiplies it by your amount and adds everything up. A 150 g steak (+23) and 200 g of potatoes (−10) add up to +13, an acid-forming meal; add 150 g of spinach (−15) and it lands at −2, which is balanced. The Basentracker app does exactly this for every day, only automatically.

The values come from the alkaline food list. What makes a single food alkaline or acid-forming is explained in Acidic or Alkaline?.
